-- Aetos Aetos, a young orange tabby with bright emerald eyes, was perched on the top of an old, low to the ground, wooden fence. The worn beams sticking out of the ground acted as a sort of border for his owners territory, or so he figured as he had not a single other reason for its presence. He was awaiting the time when his mother would beckon to him to hasten inside to settle down to sleep with his brothers and sisters. It happened that way almost every evening when the warm sun of the day began to sink down beyond the mountains, giving way to the pearly moon and dark sky of twilight. Such was his favorite time of day, but one he was rarely allowed to enjoy to its fullest. He would not complain, however, for Aetos was thankful just to have someone who cared him. For now though, he would simply enjoy the sights and sounds of things around him.
I wonder what it's like out there. came the vague thought that would later change his life. Out under these starry skies, among the trees, by the rivers... he trailed off. He had been curious about the outside world for quite a long time now, but never had he decided to put words to his wonders. It just seemed so crazy, him ever having the opportunity to explore. One day, he promised himself, I will find out what is out there. What it is the is drawing me.
