Snowdove let out a small sigh. It was getting close to dusk when she would leave with her clan to go to the gathering. She sighed again. She enjoyed gatherings, but they were usually so dull. She walked along, enjoying the late afternoon sun.

Alpha, Future Apprentice of CrystalClan
A tiny cat poked through the long ferns, sniffing the air every so often. Awhile back he'd passed a scent mark, and now everywhere smelled somewhat the same. Cat scent, but a lot more than just one. He knew it was the wild cats that stalked the forest. The ones that hunted for their own food, fought, and the very ones that were known to have torn cats like him, those who lived with Housefolk, to shreds. And yet, strangely, Alpha felt no fear.
He'd always hated being penned up in one place, and though his Twolegs always left the cat flap open, it still felt stuffy inside the Twoleg nest. For the first few moons of his short life, he'd been locked in a cage, a lab experiment to form a dog-cat hybrid. So, the young tom often explored the outdoors, going beyond his garden, following scents that had caught his attention--which wasn't just a few. The experiments had failed, but it had left him with a canine's tracking ability and the pelt of one specie of dog.
Alpha picked his way carefully, drinking in all the sights, sounds, and smells of the wood, never straying from the path. Out of the many trips he'd made into the forest, this was the first time he'd actually found fresh cat scent. Will they really be savage, like everyone said? If they were, I bet I can handle it--even if everyone said I'm too small to amount up to much. I'll show them! Just then, the trail intensified, becoming even stronger.
The copper-colored cat dashed ahead, doing his best to not stumble over the particularly thick roots.

Dreampaw
Dreampaw had watched Snowdove, a warrior of her clan, CrystalClan, go out of camp. Right before the gathering, too.. she thought, mishchievious why she was going somewhere when she knew the gathering was soon. Wondering why, Dreampaw followed her, the white cat oblivious that the snowshoe was being a shadow to her. Quietly, she ran past Snowdove, wanting to find who or what she was looking for, if anything. After going quite a good ways from the warrior, she scented the air. "Nothing unusal," she muttered to herself. At a good pace, she continued walking, sniffing the air oftenly. When a good few fox-legnths away from her clan's border, a unknown cat-scent hit her delicate nose. Intruder? she thought, going back a few paces and tore her way into thick ferns, waiting for the tresspasser to come by and confront it.

Snowdove quietly wandered the forest, thinking about the coming gathering. She hoped something interesting would happen. She suddenly lifted her nose to the air and sniffed. She smelled another cat, and she wanted to see who it was. She ran towards the smell, thinking it was one of her clanmates.

Alpha
The small cat slowed his pace as a second scent hit him; it was another cat, with that same overlaying scent, just like the first cat and everything around him. Pricking his ears, it became clear to him that the two were beginning to make their way through the forest, running, by the sound of it. It's like everyone's in a hurry. I want to meet them, and they probably want to see whose here, Alpha thought, amused. Relying more so on his enhanced tracking skills than sight, the tom navigated through the forest, choosing the closet scent to follow and ignoring the other.
When he was a few fox-lengths away from a particularly thick patch of ferns, Alpha stopped, peering between the many fronds. There was a definite cat scent. He could make out a sleek, dark-furred figure crouching there. "I know you're there," he mewed. Raising his voice so the second cat could hear him, too, Alpha added, "And I hear you, too!"

Dreampaw
Dreampaw puffed up as she heard the new-coming cat approaching the patch of ferns she was hiding in. Now it was glaring at her. 'I see you!' the cat had said. The snowshoe could make out that he was a small cat. Hmm.. attack or not? She thought for a while. Hesitating about her desicion, she leapt out in front of the cat. The CrystalClan cat scented to recieve basic information about the cat. A tom, no clanner, and around apprentice age for sure. His coat.. is amazing. The pelt of a dog I have seen before.. She thought, adoration shining in her blue eyes. "Err, what are you doing in CrystalClan territory?" she confronted the tom.

Snowdove came into the clearing where Dreampaw sat. "Dreampaw, did you smell.." She came up short as she noticed the other cat in the clearing. He had the pelt of a dog and she thought he looked wonderful. She stepped forward next to Dreampaw. "I am Snowdove, warrior of Crystalclan. May I ask who you are and what you are doing on Crystalclan territory?" She asked politly.

Alpha
CrystalClan territory? Is that why everything here smells alike? These must be CrystalClan cats then. They're not savage at all! he thought to himself, excited. "My name's Alpha. I'm exploring," the tom replied confidently, meeting their gazes evenly. He gathered himself up to his full height, which still wasn't much considering his runty size. Nevertheless, he hated being looked down on because of it. "And I refuse to leave--that is, until I'm done looking around."

Dreampaw
Dreampaw listened to the cat speak. Alpha... her mind echoed his name. "Exploring, eh?" the she-cat mewed with a hint of amusement. She turned to to Snowdove and asked, "What should we do with him?" Personally, Dreampaw wanted to take him back and make him a fellow apprentice of CrystalClan. Small..but he'd make a perfecct addition to the clan. she thought.

Alpha
His fur bristled slightly as he heard the younger she-cat, Dreampaw, it seemed her name was, ask about what they should do with him. I'm not letting them 'do anything with me' unless I choose to do it. I have my own will, Alpha thought. Were alli the CrystalClan cats this cocky, thinking they could do whatever they wanted with other cats? Perhaps it's because I'm so small and they're trying to take advantage of that. The prospect of being picked on because of his size only made him even angrier, and annoyed as well. "Yes, exploring," Alpha mewed, narrowing his dark gray eyes challengingly. "What are you going to do?"

Snowdove looked into Alpha's eyes. "Well, I am eather going to chase you off our territory, or ask you to join the clan. That is your choice, but I warn you..." She unsheather her long claws, "I will shred your pelt if you don't cowaperate." She gave him a glare with her kitteny gaze.

Dreampaw
Dreampaw nodded at the two decisions Snowdove gave the kittypet-tresspasser. "And my warning, Alpha, is that the warrior life is waaaaay different from the soft kittypet life you live. It will be a major difference," she meowed, honestly. She knew cats that had been kittypets and came to the harsh circumstances in the forest. It took them moons to get accustomed to the ways of the warrior code, but they all made fine additions to the clans. But his size.. Blah! It won't affect anything. He'll be great! she argued with herself, mutely. "We will give your a couple of minutes to make your choice," the seal-point colored cat mewed politely, waiting for Alpha to make up his mind.

Alpha
He eyed Snowdove, both weary and disdainful at the same time. And who gave them the right to live here, I wonder. Are all wild cats so cocky? Alpha thought to himself. Lifting one copper paw, he gave it a few swift licks, mulling over all the possibilities if he joined. He had caught the flicker of doubt in Dreampaw's azure eyes, and it didn't take him long to figure out why. She thinks I'm too small! Indignant, he placed his paw back on the ground, and glared at her to show he knew what she'd been thinking. Besides, if I joined them, my Twolegs will never forget to let me out again. No more being stuck in one place, I suppose. And maybe they can teach me to fight. "Hmm..." Alpha sat down, gazing around the forest, wondering how it would feel to be here forever. He could smell the warm, musty scents of prey, which was by far better than the dry, round things he was given by his housefolk. "I think I'll stay," he announced at last.

Snowdove broke her serious face and smiled wide. "That is wonderfull! Let's go back to camp! This is so exciting!" She practically bounced out of her pelt in happiness. She noticed her imaturity and put on a clam and dignified face. "Come on." She said, walking towards camp.

Dreampaw
As Dreampaw was waiting patiently for the kittypet's -maybe soon to be clanmate- response, he glared at her like he knew what the snowshoe was thinking. Her face turned apologetic. Moments later, Alpha gave his response. A smile spread across the clan cat's face. "Wonderful," she mewed with acceptance. "But- Foreststar, our leader, is the one to decide if you can be a wild-cat," she added, pointing that at to both Snowdove and the dog-pelted feline. "Alright," she said, turning toward the direction camp was. "Let's go." Dreampaw's eyes sparkled with admiration. A small cat, no, kittypet, coming to join the clans - CrystalClan. It made her heart feel good. Releasing a cat from the disgusting two-legs and letting the cats actually live.
